Every once in awhile I like to take a break from philosophy on this blog and do something more lighthearted. I'm a big Simpsons fan, and I maintain that seasons 3 through 9 comprise the show's golden era. It won't be any surprise, then, that my list of the top ten episodes will only include episodes during that time - 1991 to 1998.
1. Last Exit to Springfield (Season Four)
2. Marge vs. the Monorail (Season Four)
3. You Only Move Twice (Season Eight)
4. Rosebud (Season Five)
5. Treehouse of Horror V (Season Six)
6. Homer at the Bat (Season Three)
7. Cape Feare (Season Five)
8. Bart Sells His Soul (Season Seven)
9. El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer) (Season Eight)
10. Flaming Moe's (Season Three)
"The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" (Season Nine) is an honorable mention.

Ah, perhaps my new favorite post on your blog! (It seems our blogging styles are quite a contrast. If anything, it's the reverse, as I usually take a break from my normal lightheartedness to write something philosophical!)
ReplyDeleteDoug, I'm not sure we'll entirely agree on the top 10 Simpsons episodes, but you are definitely right that season 3-9 represent the "Golden Years" of the show. You don't need a demonstrative deductive argument to reach that conclusion, only a sense of humor!
I'm not sure you could tell from my constant jesting on Facebook (TDG), but I'm also a big Simpsons fan. In my younger days, I'd constantly quote lines. I'd like to write more, believe me, I'm very enthusiastic about the subject, but I have to go now, my planet needs me...
"Note: Eric died on the way back to his home planet."
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see your top ten!
